Trollheimen mountain huts and lodges
The 2026 summer hiking season will start soon. The opening times for the huts and lodges have been updated. For general information on huts in Trollheimen see their website tt.no .
The mountain cabins listed below are those visited when hiking the three Trollheimen routes in my guidebook ‘Hiking in Norway - South’. Clicking through the image will take you to either the homepage of the hut/lodge, or to the relevant page on ut.no. The dates for the start and end of the summer season 2026 are displayed where available. Some additional information is provided with regards to booking. This list includes the mountain huts of the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) as well as some privately run huts and lodges. In general as a member of the DNT you will get a discount when staying at these private huts. The huts are displayed in the order that they appear in the guidebook. Note that some huts operate as unserviced huts in low season, but might require the universal DNT key to open during those times. Best to check before you go.

Gjevilvasshytta is open year for most of the year in 2026, but is at times an unserviced hut, see. It will be staffed between June 19, 2026 and September 13, 2026 The universal DNT key is needed for access during unserviced/unstaffed periods. Booking recommended in high season and might be required by the Trondhjem Turistforening, best to check before going.
Jøldalshytta is open year round in 2026, and will be staffed between June 19, 2026 and September 13, 2026. DNT key needed for access during unserviced/unstaffed periods. Booking in high season is recommended by the Trondhjems Turistforening.
Bårdsgarden is open all year round in 2026 and does not require a DNT key. Advance booking recommended in high season.
Todalshytta is open all year but requires a special key, you need to contact arve@todalshytta.no for more information.

Innerdalen hut will be staffed from June 19, 2026 to August 30 2026. The universal DNT key will be needed for access during self-service/unstaffed times. Additional information at innerdalshytta@knt.no.
