writing and blogging

My writing is based on first-hand experience as well as extensive research. My guidebooks describe spectacular hikes and treks in Norway’s dramatic nature and incredible landscapes. There is an additional focus on the essential information you need in order to make these expeditions work. Being well prepared will always make a hike or trek safer and much more enjoyable.

The hike norway blog is intended to inspire and keep you up to date on hiking and trekking developments in Southern Norway. The beauty of Norwegian landscapes is accessible to many different types of hikers, due to the fantastic network of trails and huts of the Norwegian Trekking Association. The blog is an extension of the guidebooks; in it I am able to expand on themes of interest in more depth and update information quickly.

Since I currently don’t live in Norway, I also like to write about the places I live or visit extensively. Amsterdam and Moscow have been those places in the last years.

slow amsterdam describes my search for some silence and (sometimes) solitude, or simply interesting experiences. moscow murmurs was a short project that lasted while I was exploring Moscow, a fascinating and unnerving city.

If you would like to support my work and this blog, you can buy my guide books here and here. You can also support the running of the website and blog through Ko-fi.

guiding and hosting

I love helping people to explore, and I love to share interesting (hi)stories. I seek not only to inform but also to convey a sense of place. I guide in English and German, and I also speak Dutch and Spanish and a little Norwegian. I have experience in organising and hosting cultural events for small groups, school groups and cruise guests. I enjoy helping others get acquainted with a location in their own personal way. I am a certified member of the Dutch Association of guides, Guidor. In Norway I am approved as guide for the Stavanger region, by Guidecompaniet, Stavanger.

one-to-one advice and destination consulting

If you need help or advice with your preparations for hiking in Norway, you can always send me an email. I am also available to arrange a one-on-one chat (against a fee). If you are a destination services company or travel operator, I consult on a range of issues, covering itineraries, accommodation and travels, and I can offer my services as tour leader.
