rondane mountain huts and lodges

The 2026 summer hiking season is well on its way. I have updated the opening times of the mountain huts and lodges for this summer season.

The mountain cabins listed below are those visited when hiking the Rondane routes in my guidebook ‘Hiking in Norway - South’. Clicking through the image will take you to either the homepage of the hut/lodge, or to the relevant page on ut.no. The dates for the start and end of the summer season 2026 are displayed where available. Advance booking might be necessary for some lodges and advisable for others, particularly if you are hiking in late July/early August in Rondane. The list here includes the mountain huts of the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) as well as some privately run huts and lodges. In general as a member of the DNT you will get a discount when staying at these private huts. The huts are displayed in the order that they appear in the guidebook. Note that some huts operate as unserviced huts in low season, but might require the universal DNT key to open during those times. Best to check before you go.

Rondvassbu is open from June 19, 2026 to September 13, 2026 either as lodge or self-serviced hut (remember your DNT key during this time). It closes completely during the reindeer calving season. For opening times check on their website. Advance booking is recommended but not compulsory in high season.

Døralseter (Nedre) opening times for the summer 2026 are best found by emailing the hut directly.

Bjørnhollia is open from June 19, 2026 to September 13, 2026. Advance booking is recommended but not compulsory in high season. The hut closes completely during the reindeer calving season.

Grimsdalshytta is open from June 19, 2026 to September 13, 2026. Advance booking is recommended in high season. DNT key required during unserviced/unstaffed periods.
