dovrefjell mountain huts and lodges

The 2026 summer hiking season is underway. The opening times of the huts for 2026 have been updated as they are currently available, make sure to check yourself as well.

The mountain cabins listed below are those visited when hiking Dovrefjell routes in my guidebook ‘Hiking in Norway - South’. Clicking through the image will take you to either the homepage of the hut/lodge, or to the relevant page on ut.no. The dates for the start and end of the summer season 2026 are displayed where available. Additional information is provided with regards to booking. This list includes the mountain huts of the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) as well as some privately run huts and lodges. In general as a member of the DNT you will get a discount when staying at these private huts. The huts are displayed in the order that they appear in the guidebook. Note that some huts operate as unserviced huts in low season, but might require the universal DNT key to open during those times. Best to check before you go.

Reinheim is open until August 23, 2026. it will then close until March 1, 2027. Be aware of that the area might be closed during the reindeer calving season. Note that a DNT key and is required. You can both book in advance and ‘drop in’.

Åmotdashytta is open year round in 2026 and no DNT is required. It is now possible to book a bed as well, see website. Please be mindful of the reindeer calving season. For information and email contacts, see the website. Note: After some severe weather the hut is currently being repaired, in does remain open.

Vangshaugen is open in the summer of 2026 and staffed from June 10, 2026 until September 15, 2026. Booking in advance is recommended in high season, send email to vangshaugen@knt.no.

Snøheim is open from around the end of June 26, 2026 to the beginning of October 4, 2026. Advance booking is recommended in high season.

Gammelsetra is open year round in 2026 and requires a DNT key. For information and contacts see the website.

Eiriksvollen is open year round in 2026. The hut is small and locked with a DNT key. For booking and inquiries send email.
